142 films from 36 countries submitted to the 49th EKOFILM this year
The largest representation this year is Germany with 25 entries, followed by the Czech Republic and France with 19 films each. The programming team will select the 25 most attractive films to compete in three categories: the Beauty of Nature, the Visions of Nature and In Short. Prize money this year will be US$2,174.
"Entries include films that capture the beauty of nature, rare species, and a reflection of human impact on nature. The films submitted show that society is looking for solutions to the climate crisis and asking questions about the impact of novel approaches to nature. Many of them reflect on the human impact on nature, not only on established ways of life but also on the evaluation of forms of environmental protection. It is quite evident from the films submitted that a society looking for solutions to the climate crisis has already discovered that some approaches do not work and that it is necessary to be cautious and ask questions about the impact of new approaches to nature long before they are put into practice." Jitka Kotrlová, Head of Programme
