Sue and Protect
Climate litigation around the world has become a common way for people to demand that their right to a healthy environment, as declared in the Constitution, be upheld. Courts have decided in favour of the people in Germany, France and the Netherlands, among other countries, and committed governments to more action and more ambitious goals. The Czech Climate Litigation association was the first Czech organization to sue the Czech government and ministries for not doing enough to protect the environment. The protagonists of the film are the three people that represented the association before the court. Each of them approaches the issue from a different angle and each of them has understood the potential of the democratic apparatus differently. Despite this, the three of them, together with another 280 people, have joined the litigation. In what ways do they think differently and in what ways do they think alike? What is it like to be a member of such a diverse group?
